Dear fellow
Jumpers/friends:
It is with great sadness that the Airborne Regiment
Association of Canada (ARAC) is informing the membership of the passing
of ARAC President Mike La Pierre.
Mike had lung cancer and
his organs failed to function. On Tuesday night at 18:00 hrs Mike was
unconscious and at 22.00 hrs he passed away with his wife and daughter at
his side.
The details of the
Memorial Service will be as follows:
a. Date: Saturday 14 Oct 06
b. St Paul - RC Church on 61 du Couvent , at the beginning of Eardly Road
c. Time: 11.00 hrs
d. where : Aylmer, QC (which is now Gatineau)
e. Public viewing: from 09.00 hrs to 11.00 hrs.
f. at: Beauchamp Funeral Home

Note: The Church is located at the end of Aylmer Road past Lavigne Street
and the Funeral Parlour is located a short distance from the church. You
can turn right onto Washington or Wellington and Denise-Friend Street runs
parallel.
Mike will be cremated and laid to rest in Beechwood National Cemetery at
later date. On behalf of the Airborne Regiment of
Canada Association, we would like to express our deepest condolences to
his family and friends. Mike will be sadly missed by all who have known

Biography
LIEUTENANT COLONEL (RET’D) J.M.R. LA
PIERRE, CD
Lieutenant Colonel La Pierre was born in Cornwall, Ontario
and attended secondary school in Alexandria, Ontario. He enrolled in the Royal
Canadian Army Service Corps in October 1963. He served various units as an
Administrative Clerk from Gagetown, Germany, Valcartier, Edmonton, St.
Hyacinthe to Kingston, and reached the rank of MWO in 1983. While in Edmonton,
he served with ler Cdo in Cyprus during the 1974 conflict.
In 1984, Lieutenant Colonel La Pierre was commissioned in
the rank of Captain. Following three years as the Station Administration
Officer at CFS Lowther, he was posted to Air Command Headquarters in Winnipeg
and served in a Staff Officer 3 Administration position.
On promotion to Major in 1988, he was appointed Base
Personnel Services Officer at Canadian Forces Base Moose Jaw.
In June 1991, he was appointed Officer Commanding
Administration Training Company at Canadian Forces School of Administration and
Logistics. Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on 19 March 1993, Lieutenant Colonel
La Pierre assumed the duties of Deputy Commandant of the National Defence
Headquarters Administrative Unit in Ottawa.
Lieutenant Colonel La Pierre was appointed Manager
Personnel Support Programs at Canadian Forces Support Unit Ottawa on retirement
in August 1996.
Lieutenant Colonel La Pierre is married to the former
Armelle Gagné of Bic Québec and has a son, Stephan and a daughter, Amélie.
